Yoshe's
vibrant colors and shining coat represented her personality
perfectly - she was full of life, and spread joy so easily among
everybody who saw her. Her gentle eyes, and cute button nose will
never leave my memory as long as I live. Her death left a mark on my
life... not just because she's no longer with us, but because my
little girl must have suffered.
Yoshe was an extremely special little sow. She passed away at age twelve
months due to problems with her breed's background. Guinea Pigs live
from five to seven years on average, so to loose this little one at such a young
age was a shock for us all. Unfortunately it appeared as though she
developed problems with her teeth over time, and eventually was unable
to eat. Little did I know she was stealing the food from my hand as
she always had, only to drop it once I wasn't looking because she had
become unable to chew. She hid it from me too well.
Yoshe wasn't just a great pet - she taught us all a lesson in caring
for our remaining Guinea Pigs. For the suffering Yoshe endured, the
others will benefit. And although I will regret to this day not having
picked it up sooner, Yoshe is in a better place - running and jumping
and full of life. I miss her beyond belief, but all I can do now is
ensure that the same thing never ever occurs in my pig's pen again -
and that others can learn to check for this as well - I owe that to
Yoshe. Rest in peace little one, you will never be forgotten.
