Bumby
is special because he is imprinted on me and thinks he is a human;
he just doesn't understand why he is covered in feathers and mommy
isn't! Bumby is a house duck who doesn't go outside. He is afraid of the
outside. But that is okay, he's perfectly safe inside with me!
I saved him from a pond when he was a day old. A mother duck was trying
to drown him because he wasn't her baby and he was following her around
in the water as fast as his little legs could paddle. She held him under
the water for what seemed forever, but he kept popping back up and
trying to swim with her and the other babies. Finally, he got tired and
swam under a tree and I scooped him up and brought him home with me. I
think he has a little lung damage from being half drowned; he breathes a
little heavily and he has to take frequent rests. But I love him just
the way he is.
