This
is Godzilla, she is a Green Indian Ringneck Parakeet. She is a
stunning beauty with impeccable plumage and a beautiful singing voice;
she is a diva! She rules the roost and commands respect from all,
including the two large dogs in the household. Originally these birds
were from India, but they have been bred in captivity for many generations.
Godzilla is not much on affection. She has a strong bond to me, will
allow me to hold her, even clip her wings and file her beak but she
gives the "evil eye" to anyone else. She likes small foot toys, balls
with bells inside and such, and her favorite game is to drop them on the
floor and then watch as the dogs scramble around them. When the dogs
start barking she chimes in as if celebrating the chaos she's created.
She hasn't much of a speaking voice but she can certainly whistle. She
knows the first few bars of Nancy Sinatra's "The Last of the Secret
Agents", she's learning some Yma Sumac songs right now and loves to wolf
whistle as well. She even has a maniacal laugh.
Godzilla loves to spend time out of her cage, she is always present at
the dinner table and enjoys being hand fed fresh veggies or rice and
pasta while the family is eating. She also enjoys spending time outside
in her garden where this photo was taken.
