Twister, the Pet of the Day
Name: Twister
Age: Seven months old
Gender: Female
Kind: Peruvian Guinea Pig
Home: Grayson, Kentucky, USA

Meet our piggy Twister. When Peruvian piggies are babies they have rosettes in their hair like little twists, which is how she got her name. I got Twister when she was just two weeks old so she is really bonded to me. My husband says she always lets him know at least five minutes before I get home by her little piggy sounds. She loves to popcorn about and give kisses.

Twister may be a little girl, however she has a huge appetite. She eats very few pellets but loads of leaf lettuce and hay. Veggies are a very important part of a piggy's diet. They need certain amounts of vitamin C each day, which you can provide via supplements or two cups of fresh veggies daily. Twister prefers to have her veggies and in fact can get quiet demanding about it. Most people say piggies should be kept in pairs but our little princess seems very content by herself. That way she does not have to share the lettuce ;o)!
