I
got Chilli last November She was hand-reared, and was originally
bought as a companion bird for someone else. Turned out, though, that
the bird she was supposed to keep company, didn't like her! I had
originally decided that I wanted a Senegal parrot, so when Chilli became
available, I jumped at the opportunity. I haven't looked back since.
She is the sweetest little thing in the world. She love kisses, hugs
and Rooibos tea! She also enjoys riding on my shoulder, preening my
hair and chewing my earlobes (which makes them all red). She loves
watching DVD's with me, sitting on my shoulder and eating popcorn. One
of her toes on her left foot doesn't have a nail, and she often chews on
it, probably thinking, 'I know there should be nail on this toe...'.
But that's just one of the little things that makes her so endearing.
Whenever I let her out of her cage, she rushes to the top, and I grab
her between my hands and kiss her! She absolutely loves that. She
purrs and squeaks and kisses me right back!
I am living on my own, so having Chilli really brightens up my day and
she keeps me company, even when she's just sitting on her cage. I have
a large hexagonal goldfish tank that's very close to Chilli's cage.
Often, she loves to sit on her cage and stare at the fish. She even
talks to them! At least I know she's got company when I'm at work - she
especially likes the large goldfish.
How did Chilli get her name? Well, when I got her, I bought very
expensive parrot food that had dried red chilli's in it. She loved
those. So, whenever she ate one of the chilli's, she would give me a
kiss on my mouth, and my lips would burn terribly! She really enjoyed
watching me rush to the bathroom to rinse my mouth with cold water. So
that's how she got her name.
Chilli's my best friend, and knows when I'm happy or sad. She's not
quiet like the experts say. But, I live in an apartment block, and
no-one has complained. So it can't be that bad.
I really love her!
