Hello.
I would like to introduce you to Trixie, our lovely ten-month-old
chinchilla girl. She came to live with us in January of this year.
She is a pretty interesting character. Trixie lives in a very large
cage, with ramps and perches, co she can run and jump all over. We have
also installed a wheel for her to get some more exercise, as chins are
very active. An interesting note, is that chins do not take water baths,
instead they bathe in fine dust, or lava ash. It sure looks fun!
The photo is of Trixie enjoying a snack of some of her timothy hay.
Notice how she holds it in her hands while she eats. While she is a
happy, funny, bouncy chinchilla, she is also very delicate and ladylike
sometimes, as you can see!
