I
found Lencho one day with some kids who were treating him badly, as he
bit them. They were looking for someone to take the bird just because of
what I knew was his instinctive behavior. I accepted him and incredible
as it sounds, he immediately ducked his head down to have it scratched.
Ever since I have had Lencho, I tried to teach him some words with no
results, but Lencho compensates by giving me lots of affection every
time I get home from work. He is so protective of me that when someone
even pretends to be attacking me, he stands defensively. Some of the
tricks this self-taught parrot has learned include opening his cage to
climb the closest tree, and his exotic noises he makes every time he sees
a stranger trying to cross the front door.
