Please
meet my friend Mango. He is enjoying some outdoor sun in the
photo. Mango was a rescue iguana at age one, meaning he was abandoned by
his previous owner who did not understand how to properly take care of
an Iguana. Iguanas are magnificent animals, but should not be
considered as a pet unless the proper research is done firsthand to
ensure a healthy long life.
Mango is a full grown Iguana, at six feet in length from the tip of his nose
to the end of his tail. He can look very intimidating to those who don't
know him, but he really is a big gentle baby. Mango is a herbivore,
meaning he eats vegetables and also fruits as a treat. His favorite
treats are mangoes and prickly pears.
Mango is a real character with his own unique personality. He especially
loves children and attends school and club visits to help educate
children about reptiles. I think he enjoys watching the children just
as much as they seem to enjoy watching him!
