Whimsey
is one of many pets in our household, but he's very special to
us because he's such a loving bird. His personality is really developing
nicely, he loves his head rubs and to be with us as much as possible.
About a year and a half ago my fiance and I were shopping around for a
poicephalus that would suit us nicely. We looked at several and kept
returning to Whimsey since he was the friendliest and most adorable of
the three we were looking at. It definitely paid off to shop around and
find a bird with the right attitude. He's such a joy in our lives.
Whimsey doesn't talk much, but does say several phrases: "Pretty Bird",
"Whimsey Bird", "Step-up", "Peekaboo", and "Hello". He also makes lots of
different sounds for us, such as purring when we rub his head, giving
his version of kisses (which sounds more like clicking), the wolf whistle
and many more. He does a few tricks like laying on his back in our hands
and playing "dead bird" by putting his head back and staying there,
he'll flip over on his perches and just fall into your waiting hand, and
we're trying to teach him to wave - that's what he's doing in the
picture. Such a clever birdy.
Whimsey has several birdy siblings, one of which is Weeone, Weebles the
cockatiel, Brutus the Brotogerus, Loki the hawkheaded parrot. He also
shares the house with two cat buddies, Furfur the tabby and Wellington
the persian. Whimsey gets along great with the cats, but not so much
with the other birds, must be a sibling rivalry thing...lol.
Whimsey has lots of toys and a huge cage, as well as lots of love an
attention. We love him very much and wouldn't trade him for the world.
I'm looking forward to a long and rewarding life together.
