Coco, the Pet of the Day
Name: Coco
Age: Four years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Japanese Rice Bird
Home: Kyoto, Japan

This is Coco, my Japanese Rice Bird. Japanese Rice Birds are popular as parakeets in Japan. Their feathers shine beautifully like silk, and the texture is so fluffy like cotton. That's one of reasons I love Japanese Rice Birds.

I got him in a pet store four years ago. When he came to home, his back-color was gray but as he grow up, it turned snow-white. He likes singing and dancing. It's an instinct in order to attract female, but there's no girls except me in my room(poor Coco!)... His most favorite is bathing. He has his own bath box in his cage so he can take a bath whenever he wants. He's clean so he takes a bath more than three times a day even in winter. After bathing, he always smells like sweet maple syrup. That's a kind of strange odor, but I like it.

He also likes hopping on keyboards of PC. I don't know why but he seems to be attracted to electric equipments like PC, cellphone, DVD player (especially remote control), those kind of things. I've never met such a intelligent bird like him! And he recognizes each face of my family. He loves me the best (he always wants to stay around me and follows me everywhere, even into a bathroom), second is my mother, and he never flies to my father.

Isn't he incredible? When he gets tired of playing, he always flies to me and fells asleep on my palm. I can feel his warmth and constant heartbeat. It makes me relax. Although I can't move my hands and do anything while he's sleeping (I mean, I don't want to wake him up), I like it so much. It's my happiest time of the day.
