Athena, the Pet of the Day
Name: Athena
Age: One year old
Gender: Female
Kind: Teddy Bear Hamster
Home: Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

I have always loved animals. When I was little, I used to pretend that my teddy bears were real, and when I was about twelve I felt a hamster for the first time. It was the softest thing that I had ever touched. After my precious anole died, I went on a campaign to convince my dad to let me get a hamster. My efforts finally paid off and I got Athena. Athena was named after the Greek goddess of war because she is tough and courageous. No challenge is too hard for her. Once she sets her mind on something, nothing can stop her. She is curious about everything and loves to explore. If I don't let her out during the day then she will rattle the bars of her cage at night. Athena walks with a certain strut like she is better than everyone else. She thinks that she really is a goddess. When I got her, I never dreamed that she would have so much personality. It just proves that big things really do come in small packages!
