is PeeWee. She has been my pony for 33 years. As a little girl I
got to pick out any pony out of about 50! Talk about a dream come true!
She was my first "horse" and taught me a lot when I was very, very
young. In her younger days, she would pull my sister and I around in a
small cart. PeeWee was never ridden, except a couple of times, but she
always bucked us off. She may be small (not quite ten hands) but she is
powerful and certainly has a mind of her own!
PeeWee had a boyfriend for 20 years. He was a Sicilian donkey, named Don
Quixote. "Donny" and PeeWee were inseparable, and even shared the same
stall, for all that time. We still call PeeWee "Dulcinea," who was the
true love of Cervante's "Don Quixote." Sadly, Donny crossed the Rainbow
Bridge many years ago. Now PeeWee has a new beau, Jack, a handsome
gelding twice her size. He gets very upset when PeeWee is out of sight.
So even though she is "older woman" she's still got it!
PeeWee has been hospitalized twice this year for chokes. She had
endoscopic surgery both times, so we have to be very careful about what
she eats. However, there is certainly nothing wrong with her appetite! I
love my little girl very much and I feel so very lucky that she has been
in my life this long. I do my best to spoil her and make her happy. I
want her to be around for a long time to come!
