My
mother needed to go to the pet store to pick up food for our cats. As
I passed the rodent section, I saw a bunch of guinea pigs in pens. I peeked
in to find an odd looking one. His face was split into two glossy
colors of black and tan. I had to have him. With a little fancy talk my
mother gave permission for myself and my sister each to take a guinea pig
home. The woman who sold 'em to us told us their names. The one my
sister had claimed was Tinker Bell (also know as Tinker). He was very
squirmish, and shy. Mine was named Chunkster (AKA Chunk).
The second I got to hold him, he made his little purrs. I take him out
often because he loves attention, he's very social. He doesn't mind his
picture taken either, as you can see. When I head downstairs to my room,
I can here his little squeaks ready to greet me through the door. Chunk
is a leader because where he goes Tinker (his brother) is sure to
follow. Over the six months that I have owned him, he's gained a little
heft, but it doesn't seem to bother him, he just plops himself down in
his wood shavings. Also Tinker and Chunk like to tag team the cat when
she's strutting about.
I plan to go to college in the fall of 2004, and I do not plan to leave
my Chunkster back home. I will keep him in my possession for a long
time. It wasn't 'til I did an online search that I found his breed, nor
his brothers. When I looked I saw all these ordinary Guineas and then I
saw one just like Chunkster - that's how I know he's an Abyssinian.
