Nibbles
is obviously a very happy duck. Actually she is at Grandma's and
is standing on the kitchen counter. Mom doesn't allow such shenanigans
at home. Well you know how it is when you go to grandma's. Nibbles
enjoys interacting with her flock (our family). She loves to watch her
boy play Nintendo and has been known to use her own controller to play
Mario Land. She likes to play cards when we play "poop" poker. My son
and I play that to see who has to clean up after her.
We got Nibbles as an egg. My son found the egg in a yard in the
neighborhood all by itself. He could hear a baby peeping inside and
brought it straight home to his mommy for help. We kept it warm and
moist and she hatched in two days. Born June 7, 2003. We enjoyed her as
a baby searching the internet for information and advice on raising a
baby duck. We learned all we could about imprinting food and care. She
has grown considerably from the size of your fist to a large football
with a head and a tail. She loves attention and is a wonderful friend
and companion. I have read she will lay her first egg between six and nine
months of age. What excitement we will have on that day. She spends most
of her day following me about the kitchen but enjoys those times on the
deck playing in her pool and perched on the rails preening her beautiful
feathers. There are so many things that she has done that are amazing and
she continues to do it every day she lives with us.
