This
is Olive. She is a Boer Goat. I got Olive when she was two days old.
I bottle fed her and she became my best friend. I expect great
offspring from her. We will always be friends. I don't know what I would
do without her. She lives with her six pen mates. Their names are Baa,
Killer, Larry, Charlie, Poppy, and Pumpkin. She won first place one time
at a show. All the judges who have judged her say she has a great
profile and a beautiful coat. She is like a sister to me, and she will
have a baby next spring. (Her pregnancy will begin in November and last
for five months.)
Olive follows me around and she is very intelligent. She loves to stand
on her hind legs and dance. She can be affectionate and independent.
She goes off and investigates everything by herself. Olive can open
gates, open the feed bin, find her way out of our pen through a tiny
hole, and climb trees to get leaves. She listens to us talk. She knows
what a camera is. Most goats come and try to eat it or run from its
flash when she stands at a good distance. She is the only goat that
will hold still to get her picture taken. It's very rare to get photos of
the others, but Olive, as you can see, poses nicely!
