About Us
Triumph, the Pet of the Day
Name: Triumph
Age: Ten months old
Gender: Female
Kind: Russian Dwarf Hamster
Home: Tucker, Georgia, USA

Triumph is an outstanding Russian Dwarf Hamster. Her particular color variation is "Dove" (there are quite a few such variations) She is ten months old and lives in Tucker, Georgia where she is the center of attention morning, noon and night. Yes, that's the color her eyes really are, not a camera mistake. Her eyes are actually described, in strict hamster breeder terms, as "claret". But, yes, that's fire engine red to you and me.

Triumph has many adventures as she is an escape artist and keeps us scrambling during her occasional jaunts to freedom. Furniture is moved, elaborate hamster traps are set, and the vigil is kept. She inevitably emerges, usually from somewhere within the sofa where she likes to hide and eat lint. Triumph enjoys grapes, cheese, and every variety of nut along with her special Dwarf Hamster nutritious seed and pellet blend. She will bite gently on your fingers if she likes you (or if your fingers smell like peanut butter). If you hold her in your closed hand, sort of like you might hold a banana, with her little head sticking up like a small furry tank commander in the turret, she will hold a nut or a chunk of cheese like a harmonica and chomp away until it's gone. This is a lot of fun to watch. Of course, whole peanuts and bits of popcorn get scarfed up and stuffed into the cheek pouches for eating later. Especially entertaining is to give her a big kernel of popcorn, which is almost as big as her head, and watch her scrambling around frantically to drag it into her house for safekeeping. Hiding food everywhere is important to Triumph, as it is to all hamsters. We wish everyone could enjoy a critter as much as we enjoy our small pal Triumph.
