Corona, the Pet of the Day
Name: Corona
Age: Two years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Eclectus parrot
Home: Fairfield, Iowa, USA

Corona is a female Eclectus parrot. It's easy to tell she's female because the males look very different, being green and yellow. She's two years old and lives with her family of humans in Fairfield, Iowa. Corona joins in when there are visitors, with many styles of laughing, from 'ha ha ha haaaaaa' to 'heeeeeeeee hee hee hee,' and then we start laughing at her and she really gets into it. When she is dozing on her perch near the computer, she makes quiet talking noises but with her eyes and beak closed, like you're hearing a conversation a couple of rooms away.

She loves her bath, and usually chooses a sunny day so that her feathers can dry. We put a pie plate of water an inch deep on top of her cage and she wiggles her tummy in, spreads her feathers and splashes water everywhere. Then she gets up on the top perch and waves her wings and looks very silly and wet. She is very special to her human family because she is so loving and gentle, taking our fingers very gently in her beak to greet us.
