Darwin, the Pet of the Day
Name: Darwin
Age: Six years old
Gender: Male
Kind: White's Tree Frog
Home: San Diego, California, USA

This is my cool frog Darwin. He is a White's Tree Frog - Blue color phase. He is six years old and is totally cool sitting on a limb and always smiling at everyone. He loves to sit on his limb or on the edge of his pond keeping cool and waiting for crickets and sometimes even a pinkie. He loves to climb up my arm and hang out.

Two weeks ago he surprised my sister and I with a hidden talent. We heard the barking of a little dog. We both looked in the patio no little dog could not get in there. Again we heard the barking. It was Darwin the frog barking to let me know it is time to mist his cage because he was hot. Darwin is such a happy frog!

I bought Darwin in a pet shop (captive-bred) when he was the size of a quarter. Now he is 2 1/2 to 3 inches across. Darwin doesn't know his name but he knows my hand and loves to climb up on it and my arm. He is a laid-back frog who sits in his pond or on a limb in his huge 3 foot tall by 2 feet wide cage. He loves crickets but loves a treat of a pinkie. He loves to pose for my camera. He is just a real cool laid back frog that I can hold. Darwin got his name from a city in Australia in the upper northwest corner. It just sounded cool. Darwin's kind of frog can live to be 20 years old, and I hope he does.
