This
is Kaleb, a Belgian Draft horse. He is very special to our family
and is the light of my life. Four years ago my husband and I rescued him
on his way to the auction barn. He had this big scar on his right rear
leg from an entanglement in a fence as a yearling, and the owner did
not think he would be sound. At two years old he was very large and,
since he wasn't worked with much as a youngster, difficult to handle.
But I saw the love in his eyes and knew he trusted me. I soon had him
trotting after me in the pasture for apples and he would even let me
walk underneath him when grooming. He was indeed sound, and allowed me
to train him for riding. We were soon gallivanting over the fields, and
later went on to compete in Dressage shows. Kaleb has grown very large
over the years, and our love for him grows as well. My husband enjoys
brushing his big face, and I love to give him kisses on his soft muzzle.
But food is the way to this horse's heart!
