About Us
Yellow Bean, the Pet of the Day
Name: Yellow Bean
Age: Three years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Ornate Horned Frog
Home: Java, New York, USA
Meet Yellow Bean! He has the biggest appetite of any of our frogs! Beany enjoys eating anything that he can find, that will allow itself to be captured. We found Beany, sick, at a pet shop; they were not giving him enough water, and he was suffering from it, dried up and shriveled. We took him in, and now, a year later, he is a healthy eating machine!

You could call Beany a "gourmet frog!" Last winter, we were snowed in for a week, living in Buffalo; having no other choice of food for Beany, we microwaved some fresh popcorn shrimp for him! He immensely enjoyed this change of culinary pace, though the shrimp are too salty to be recommended unless it's an emergency! But don't tell Beany that...

Beany is known for nipping at our fingers if we bother him while he is sleeping. It's just his way of saying, "give me some space." Other habits of his are squeaking in the night, digging around his tank, and looking cute for the camera. And that appetite! We had a tank of smaller frogs next to his tank, and he would repeatedly hurl himself at the wall, trying to get a free snack! Needless to say, we separated the tanks..

We love Beany and the enjoyment he gives us. He is a delight to own, and I am glad I could share him with you.
