Our
Syrian Hamster's name is Lilo. She is only seven weeks old in the top
picture. She loves to be fed by hand and petted everyday. Her favorite
thing is her hamster ball. She loves to roam all over the house and seek
out new places on her nightly journeys! Lilo lives in Southern
California and is a bonafide "Beach Hammie"!
Lilo is getting so big now! Although she doesn't bite, she is more the
independent type. She loves to climb in and out of old toilet paper
rolls while we hold them for her. It is so cute! She can't wait
every night to get out of her cage and literally jumps from her cage door
into the Hammie Ball when she sees it! She knows our voices now and
seems happy (as happy as hammies get) to see and hear us.
Her favorite treat is a tiny piece of graham cracker that we give her
once a week. She loves to get in her "car" and speed along the Hamtrac!
She has a VW Bug. Her big trick is hanging upside down from her cage
bars and swinging across the cage like a kid on the monkey bars!
She gave us a big scare in September when on the hottest day of the year
we were out and when we came home she was suffering heatstroke in her
S.A.M cage tubes! It was terrible! We revived her with lots of water and
in about two hours she started to come around. We took her out of that
terrible cage for the night and the next day I called the pet shop and
explained what had happened. They let us return it and now she has a
nice wire three-level cage that gets lots of ventilation! She seems very
healthy and happy in her new cage and we are so thankful we came home
when we did.
