Piccolo
is a two year old parakeet. She has a constant companion, Angel.
Piccolo doesn't socialize much with the human members of her flock but
she surprises us sometimes. When we first got her, she wouldn't eat any
kind of veggies. After more than a year she was moved next to our
cockatiels, who love their veggies. She was definitely watching because
soon after, she started chowing down on greens and corn cut off the cob.
She absolutely loves carrots! Piccolo plays with them as much as she
eats them. One of her favorite activities is to tear the carrot in
little tiny pieces and fling them from the cage! I find carrot pieces on
the walls, floor, windows and blinds. I don't mind too much because I
know how much she enjoys playing with them.
Just the other day I put my hand in her cage to give her veggies and she
sat perfectly still and even took a tiny bite off of the carrot. Was I
ever surprised! She's never let me get that close to her before! Maybe
one day I'll get her to sit on my finger!
