is our first 'grandchild.' We had been hoping for a grandchild
for years, but as of Christmas 1999 still not one even on the way. At
the family gift opening time, my daughter handed us a Christmas bag
saying: "Here is your grandchild." Inside was one very terrified Guinea
pig. He is ugly to some people but he is cute at the same time! He is
also spoiled, as is the (human) granddaughter who finally arrived about
a year later. Rodney does not do any tricks, but he really makes a
commotion whenever he hears paper rustle, because he thinks it's his bag
of alfalfa being opened. He spends most of his days and nights in his
cage. Each morning he gets a large salad of baby carrots, celery stalks,
apple slices and romaine lettuce in addition to his bin of pellets.
