Pistachio, the Pet of the Day
Name: Pistachio
Age: Two years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Green Cheeked Conure
Home: Coconut Creek, South Florida, USA

Hatched in Boca Raton, Florida on March 23, 2000, this little Green Cheeked Conure has been in my home since October 2000. My knowledge of Parrots were very Basic, almost NIL, when I first saw Pistachio in the pet shop. Little did I know that I was going to bring him back home with me only half an hour after our first encounter. I was charmed by this little feather guy right from the start. The exchange and response felt from this conure was very sweet and very real. The breeder placed this little bird on my shoulder and we looked at each others and I could swear there was a soul behind those giant eyes. We spent our days together, he makes me laugh, he is so funny and a quick learner. He tells me he loves me and soon after he asks for a kiss: "Give me a Kissssssss!" When Pistachio eats (he especially likes pasta), he sings and mumbles "Yummm Yummm Yummmmy." When I am busy in the other room, in order to get my attention, he will make the sound of kisses and will say in his sweetest voice: "I love you, my baby." Now I swear there is a little spirit disguised under this green bundle of feathers. I named him Pistachio because of his color and also I like the sound of his name. We are learning a lot about each others and respect is the most important part of the relationship. I learned from Pistachio about the bird behavior, also through books, websites and newsgroups. If you wish for a great pet, respect is the "Key word"!
