About Us
Edgewoods, the Pet of the Day
Name: Edgewoods Skip To My Lou
Age: Eight years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Miniature Horse
Home: Spotsylvania, Virginia, USA

Edgewoods Skip To My Lou is a 1994 AMHA/AMHR silver dapple pinto driving mare that I bought from Priscilla Lane of Holly Lane Farm on August 26, 2002. Priscilla bought Lou from our friend, Marilyn Hoffman of the very prestigious Hilltop Stud Farm. Lou is a very, very sweet and affectionate mare and she is also a lovely driver. She drives like a dream and goes on an ultra light touch. She does a lot more than simply drive quietly. She could win blue ribbons in roadster and she can really do a lot of fancy things with a cart (360's, barrels, obstacles, etc.). She also knows how to set right up for halter class and to s-t-r-e-t-c-h that pretty neck!

Lou was in a very bad state when Marilyn Hoffman bought her in 2000, but you'd never know it now. She had been starved and some minis on the farm she came from actually died from starvation and dehydration. Lou was so weak in 2000 that she had to be lifted into the horse trailer to be hauled to Hilltop Stud Farm. She got very lucky, thank God! Lou is one of the good ones and is an extremely kind and gentle mare. She loves attention and people, despite her past neglect. She absolutely loves to be scratched between her front legs, and isn't too shy to let you know how much she enjoys it. She's really a joy to be around and I'm so happy she's one of our horses.

I am so grateful to Priscilla for allowing me to buy such a gorgeous and fun mare. I had been admiring Lou since the day Priscilla brought her home. I thought she was the best looking mare at the stable, with that pretty head and conformation and markings just the way I'd paint them if I could! then, I got to drive her in July and she's been on my mind a lot ever since! Lou never needs to worry again because she's got a forever home with a family who loves her. Lou is in foal to our National Top 5 horse, Triple H Derby Day Miracle, for June 2003. We think the baby will be pretty and gentle, having such beautiful and quiet parents! Derby is crazy about Lou (and so am I)! Lou lives at Holly Lane Farm in Spotsylvania, Virginia. This farm is right around the corner from our farm. Lou will be at Holly Lane Farm at least until the foal she's now carrying is weaned.
