This
is Penelope. She is a fifteen-week-old Coatimundi. The species
originally comes from the rainforest, but Coatimundi are bred and raised
here in the USA as pets. She loves looking at the camera when it comes
out. Penelope goes with me to work every day. She is affectionate and
wants to be petted and loved. She eats dog food, fruits and vegetables.
Penelope likes to take a bath and go swimming. She plays with our cat
all the time. Coatimundi are a part of the raccoon family, but they are
diurnal - awake during the day, like us. At night Penelope goes into her
cage and goes to sleep from 9 pm until 6 am. She is litter-trained. She
loves to be on my shoulder. She will get to ten pounds, right now she is
only two pounds. We look forward to seeing her grow and spending the years
with her.
