Janelle, the Pet of the Day
Name: Janelle
Age: Five years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Llama
Home: Prince George, British Columbia, Canada

Janelle is a very special female llama, was born on our farm with 15 other Auntie llamas in attendance. LLamas are a very close-knit curious kind of animal, they don't miss a thing, whether it be a noise or some creature lurking about. We have 22 llamas on our ranch and I can't imagine life without them, but my husband says he could imagine life with a few less of them. Actually they don't require a lot of work, only when they are going to shows. Then the grooming process is what takes up the time.

Janelle has been in parades, the last one being the Christmas parade where she was dressed up with a blanket over her back with bags of parcels attached and of course the Santa Claus hat. She also had a big red ribbon around her neck so she really did look to be in the festive spirit. We always have to be six months ahead with our costume ideas, it takes a lot of planning to come up with some unique and different themes. It's always a toss up as to who gets to go but Janelle has been one of the fortunate ones. Janelle has been to several outings, shows and parades.

Janelle and our other llamas also get to go to senior nursing homes and are very well-behaved when visiting the elderly. I have had several school classes visit our ranch as part of their field trips, teachers and students were very impressed. So again I say I can't imagine life without these wonderful creatures. Janelle is a very special member of the ranch!
