Penny, the Pet of the Day
Name: Penny
Age: One and a half years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Sheltie Guinea Pig
Home: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

I adopted Penny from the SPCA six months ago after losing another of my guinea pigs to cancer. I went to the SPCA with the intention of "just looking," but when I saw her I fell in love with her. I couldn't believe how tame she was too. Not at all afraid of a stranger picking her up. I had to take her home with me. She was wet and matted when I got her home but after a bath and a haircut she was as good as new. When I finally introduced her to my other three pigs I couldn't believe how well it went. She fit in immediately with no squabbles at all. She is such a docile little pig.

Penny is my first long-haired guinea pig and everyone always comments on how pretty she is. Even people who never much liked guinea pigs before, seem to really take a liking to her. Her long hair takes some work as it requires regular brushing and trimming but I don't mind, since I love her to pieces.
