Tabetha, the Pet of the Day
Name: Tabetha
Age: Two years old
Gender: Female
Kind: European Starling
Home: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, USA

This is Tabetha. She is a European Starling. Tabetha is special because she started her life out in the wild. She was only a few days old when she fell out of the nest. Some people found her and raised her till she could fly, but when she was set free, she didn't want to go! It was scary in the big wide world. (You should never raise a wild animal if you are not qualified! And European Starlings should not be released into the American wild). Well, I work at the South Florida Wildlife Center which is where they brought her. We cannot release Starlings so we were going to have to euthanize her. But I didn't have the heart, she was too sweet. So I adopted her and now she sings all day long in her warm indoor home. She recently started to talk! Yes, Starlings are mimics and they talk. You can visit her and my other babies their website.
