I
raised Marvin at two days of age from the nest when his parents
abandoned him. He learned the sound of my voice, footsteps and laugh.
When he opened his eyes for the first time, he saw his new Mom. He
never acts like a bird. Follows me around like a duck and always is by
my side. I called him Starvin' Marvin for his beak is always opened.
He is my best buddy and friend to the end!!!!
Marvin is the smallest kind of parrot in the world. The breed is
Pacific Parrotlet. His personality is sweet and loving. He plays hide
and seek under the covers. His call to you is a squeak like a mouse
call. That is how I communicated to him when he was in the incubator.
Even though he couldn't see me at two days of age, he could hear me! He
would hear me talk in another room and off with his squeaks he would
go. He loves to have his feathers groomed and preened. He lifts his
leg when you say "Step Up". He loves to hide in your hair when he is
on your shoulder and will preen your hair also. Even though he is the
smallest parrot, he has the heart of an Amazon parrot. That is his
full size in the picture, and they live to be 15+ years.
