Ruby
Jane is special because we have eight other domestic skunks and
she is the "princess" of the house. She is a "Mommy's Girl" and I love
her dearly. She lives with my husband and I and eight other domestic
skunks in Dupont, IN. We bought Ruby Jane from a breeder in June 2000.
I had picked out two skunks, one for me and one for a friend. Skunks
come in several colors and markings, but I had decided before we got
there that I wanted a classic black & white striped skunk. All the way
home, my husband kept telling me that I should reconsider my choice.
He liked the one that had the pretty swirls. Well, as it turned out,
we kept the one he liked best. He was right, she grew up to be
beautiful. She always has her tail poised up in a fan like position.
She rules our house and our other skunks. She's the "Princess" and she
shows it! I've even dressed her in a hat and tutu. As it turned out,
she prefers me over my husband. When he holds her, she looks at me as
if to say, "Please take me away from this guy". Ruby likes to sleep in
my arms at night. She's a Mommy's girl! Food is Ruby's main interest.
She will stand upright on her back legs and walk across the floor when
we hold a piece of food over her. When I tell her to "pat" my legs,
she will pat them with her front paws for a piece of food. I take Ruby
Jane, along with my other domestic skunks to skunk shows. We have lots
of fun and have met several fantastic people. My skunks make me so
happy, I don't know how I ever lived without them. And yes, they are
all descented!
