Pretty is the best horse in the world. I was so excited when my parents said I could have a horse, and the first horse I went to look at was Pretty. She hadn't exactly lived up to her name yet. Pretty was overweight and out of shape, because her owners never had time to ride her. I didn't think I would want her, but though she was out of shape, I couldn't ignore her smooth gates and bold jump. Since she was dirt cheap, we had no problem paying for her, and brought her to the riding stable I was going to board at. She settled in nicely, but her mood got bad as I began lunging her to get her back and shape, and I put her on a diet. Luckily, after three months, she was more fit and had lost weight. I began riding her seriously, seeing what she could do, mostly in dressage. That summer, I showed her and she brought some good rosettes. The thing with Pretty is she either did really bad, or won big. The next summer I showed her in some hunter shows, and we did very well. But the next show season, during our first jumper 3' show, she went out and hurt her leg. Of course, I was forced to retire her, but Pretty has made good recovery, and sometimes I even ride her on the trails. She has had her first foal, Destiny, and hopefully he will show his mother's spirit and grace.
