Tiki
is my Pacific Parrotlet. He was born on Canada Day last year. I
had my pick of three different male parrotlets and Tiki was the most
rambunctious of them all. He climbed all over me and it was love after
that. He is definitely my baby and boy, is he spoiled. He bites my
husband really hard when he tries to put him in his cage, but he just
nibbles my ear when he's on my shoulder. When I come home from work,
he chirps and cries until I come upstairs and take him out of his
cage. Then he refuses to go back into his cage until he has to go to
bed. He loves millet and oats and groats. But he likes people food
much more. Anytime I am eating he has to come over and sit on the rim
of the bowl and chow down (if it's a plate he just wades through). His
favorites are granola in the morning, boiled eggs for a snack, corn
chips, spaghetti and meat sauce, and lots and lots of cake.
I have been trying to teach Tiki his name as well as our dog, Koji's
name. So far he has only learned Koji. He is so realistic sounding
that Koji looks up every time he calls him. He also imitates the sound
of pouring water and makes cooing sounds in my ear when he's happy. He
hides in my shirt when he's scared or cold. Tiki and Koji have had two
run-ins - usually this happens when Tiki hops into Koji's dog dish and
tries to eat his kibble.
