These
are my beautiful and precious baby sugar gliders, Henry and
Lola. I have only had them for three months, but they are already bonded
to me and I am addicted to them! They are so sweet, and hilarious
too! Henry is a madman, jumping and gliding everywhere like a maniac,
he is so funny to watch. Lola is more subdued, making her first
glide just the other day! Their favorite treat is mealworms, as they
are munching on in the picture. Other favorites include grapes,
papaya, and their staple food, Bourbon's Modified Leadbeaters (BML).
The love playing with all sorts of toys. The feather teasers are
their favorites, they attack them and wrestle them to the ground!
Henry and Lola are pure entertainment, and pull my heart like no other
pets ever had.
Sugar gliders have a gliding membrane like a flying squirrel, although
they are not rodents! They are in the marsupial family and are from
Australia. Meaning, someday, when Henry and Lola become man and wife,
Lola will carry her little babies in her pouch. Owning a sugar glider
should not be taken lightly (nor should owning any other animal). They
have very special needs and require a lot of love and attention. They
are very social animals, so unless you can devote all your time to
them, they need to be kept in pairs. Still then, they love and want
all the time you can give them. They also require a very specific
diet. My favorite site for information is
GliderCENTRAL. If you are
interested in letting a glider own you, please do lots of research first.
