Here's
my Rhaco. He's an adult crested gecko from New Caledonia. Rhaco
is almost one year old and he is a Rhacodactylus ciliatus, "dark fire"
morph/breed. By the way, this species was reported as extinct in the
wild and has been "rediscovered" in 1994 on a small island called the
Pine Island in New Caledonia! My gecko was captive-bred, of course.
Unlike most species, this gecko eats a lot of mashed fruits, especially
apples, bananas and apricots with honey. I give him some crickets, too,
for protein.
Rhaco is so gentle and can be easily handled. He likes to look at him in
a mirror! He makes noises (sounds like a tiny chicken) and a nuptial
dance because he thinks that there's a female in the mirror!
