||Sixteen years old|
have been leasing Penny for over a year now and we fit together. We
both have our moments of stubbornness, but always figure something
out. When I started riding English, I saw Penny and they told me she
had a false pregnancy and hasn't been worked for about two years. She
didn't have much muscle on her, but when I started leasing her, it all
changed. I carefully prepped her for shows during the winter and
spring and beginning of summer.
At the show grounds, Penny has her head in the clouds and pays no
attention to me [I can even put baby oil on her for showmanship!], but
once she sets foot in the ring, she's all business. At Districts [4H],
we placed 6th in showmanship out of 21! Next year, I hope to tune
these skills, and maybe, just maybe, we'll be heading to states!
Besides showing, Penny is always a great listener and will let you do
anything from riding her bareback with a halter to crawling under her
belly. She's kind of spoiled now, since she expects her cookie when I
walk into the barn.
