I
caught Anne and Fred with my own hands in the pond we live on. Anne
is an Eastern Painted Turtle, and Fred is a Western Painted Turtle.
They now live in a turtle tank in my bedroom. Whenever I walk in the
room, they stop everything and swim to the corner of the tank opening
their mouths wide and snapping over and over at me. To feed them, I
pick them each up carefully by their shells, hold a piece of food out
and they snatch it right out of my hand. They're happy, middle-aged
turtles (named after my parents).
