Chester
has a remarkable story that even I don't know half so I'll
share what I do know. Chester lived with from what I hear was a
retired zoo keeper, who raised birds. When Chester was very young one
of his siblings had apparently gotten too aggressive and crippled one
of Chester's "feet". It was very clear that Chester could not be sold
so the man cared for Chester, it was also clear that Chester had been
loved by his personality.
Years later Chester's owner became I'll and went to the hospital with
Chester and his cage. For months Chester lived in a hospital room with
his owner. That was when I received a call from the veterinarian I go
to. I was offered a sun conure, I of course said yes. The next time I
went to the vet I had heard that the Chester's owner had passed away.
The clinic had Chester in the back room. Then I heard that Chester had
been in his owners room through his illness. The clinic had warned me
that Chester may bite and that he had been kept in his cage for a long
time. I took him home and instantly known that Chester wasn't the
biting type.
Three days later I had been gone and got home to find Chester out of
his cage on the floor waddling like a penguin. I timidly picked him up
and realized there was nothing to worry about. In a week Chester and I
had bonded strongly. I was told that Chester was a quiet bird unlike
most conures, however, he picked up a coughing noise in the hospital.
Since then he has picked up a lot, like he sneezes and he will bark
only when I talk. but when our garage door is opened and I walk
through he screeches very loud. Now I will bring Chester every where
in a little backpack people love to see. Chester is very special to me
and I am thankful to have him, and when he screeches of excitement I
love it!
