Echo
is still feeding on baby formula. I have in insert it into her
mouth with a syringe. When she becomes four months old, she will be at
90% her adult size. It will take her two years for her to reach full
adult maturity and she will be about 12" long. And most of her green
feathers will turn to a brilliant sunshine yellow at eight months of age
or so. I can expect her to live about 25 years.
Echo has already learned to be potty trained. She will let me know when
she needs to go by doing a little wiggle when I hold her. I tell her "go
potty" and I set her down in a small box I designated for her. And I
hold her a lot. When she needs to go and I am not holding her, she will
start flapping her wings and backing up letting me know I need to put
her in her box. Believe it or not, she has never had an accident on me
or my clothes. Her politeness is just something she showed me from day
one.
Sun Conures are known for their sweet dispositions and playfulness. Echo
is no exception. Most Conures love to take baths. I am starting this one
off right by giving her baths often to reinforce that good habit. I am
hopping that she will learn to speak some language. So far she does a
great job at chattering back at me when I speak to her. Otherwise she
stays pretty much quiet unless she needs to tell me she is hungry and
needs more formula. You can just see it in Echo's face that this is a
very happy bird. I think that Echo is an excellent example of an animal
that is willing to work with you if you give them plenty of attention.
