Wishes, as he is called around the barn comes with a story! Bred by a prominent racing stable in Florida, he was sold to a racing home at an early age. Winning a few races during his career he injured himself in 1999 and was retired from the track. His owner put him on stall rest for six months and then began searching for a buyer. He remained in her care for another five months as buyer after buyer declined him based on his healing injury. I saw Wish advertised was struck by his presence even in a simple photograph. I knew he had suffered a serious injury at the track and was just now sound. I knew I had to see him.

I drove up to where he was located and also viewed several horses also for sale, saving Wish for last. In my heart I knew he was the one I wanted - but in my head I thought that I must look at horses without injuries. After viewing six horses I finally made the trek to the farm where Wish was stabled. When I pulled up into the driveway, he was out in a huge paddock, running as he had been bred to do. As I climbed out of the car, I felt my breath catch and I knew even from a distance, even without seeing him up close I was going to buy him. He galloped and tore about that paddock with such vim and vigor, feeling the strength of his own body and just enjoying life. I brought Wish home with me that day.

While I had reservations and fears about his injury, today he is strong and healthy and totally sound. He truly is my Wish Come True and has begun to fulfill my dreams. Currently in training for a career in Eventing, I plan to take him up to Training level and higher if his injury will allow! I cherish the moments he and I share with each other, knowing that he is happy to be with me and somehow understands that I love him just as he is... How could I give him any less? He loves me with all my flaws as well!
