Ace
was a very special little piggy from the start. There was a bit of
a discrepancy over his name at first, thus the very long one. I wanted
to name him Hollingsworth but we finally decided on Ace (as long as
Hollingsworth could be in his full name!) Now for an explanation of
his full name: His nick-name from the start was "Da Face" because of
his characteristic blaze. The "Spades" part comes from when I dressed
him up as the Ace of Spades for Halloween. There isn't really a reason
for the King part though, I guess it just sort of ties the name up!
We originally got Ace as company for our other guinea pig, Sophy, who
had just lost her companion of four years. Ace was a wee little piglet
when we first got him and Sophie towered above him! She had always
been the dominant pig so she nipped Ace to show him who's boss until
caught on after a while! As Ace aged (and Sophy aged even more,) they
became much better friends and would cuddle together to sleep. Sadly,
Ace died very suddenly and of an unknown cause during the night of
June 21, 2001. Sophy is handling it very well as she has dealt with it
before. She may or may not get another companion this summer, but if
she does, I doubt he'll ever be anything like King Hollingsworth Ace
da Face of Spades!
