This
is my horse, Lucky. This photo was professionally taken at
Lucky's major show, a 4' class. We found Lucky when she was three years
old, at an old farmer's house who raised and beefed cattle, no, he
didn't dare beef Lucky, don't worry. But he had to sell her, she
wasn't being cared for then. I wanted to buy her the moment I realized
that the streak of silver in the field was a horse, but couldn't, she
was too young and I wouldn't have been able to buy her. I was lucky
though -and so was she! My riding instructor bought her, and trained
her for Dressage. I rode Lucky a few times. The first time I got on
that mare's back - we clicked, we were in harmony. But when Lucky was
6 years old, my instructor decided to sell her from lack of time to
care for her. A young teenager bought her, and I was amazed to find
out that the girl lived only a few miles from me! It really did seem
like a fairy tale. The first year Lucky was there, I wasn't allowed to
go see her, but I would bike by, slowly as I could, feed her a carrot
sometimes. I was shocked when one day when I was biking by, the
beginning of the second year the teen had owned her, the girl said
that Lucky was for sale, because she was off to college, and because
Lucky just wasn't a Dressage horse. My dreams came true that day, when
I heard my parents say "Yes, we'll buy her". And then, I started
training Lucky for jumping, turned out, she a darned good jumping
horse. Now Lucky is 13, but she still shows - and she's still my baby.
