My
name is Iroc, I am sixteen months old. I am an Congo African Gray
Parrot. I was born in Nappanee, Indiana, and live in Plymouth, Indiana.
Life is good once I started to understand my parents, Every morning when
my dad leaves for work I tell him "I'll see you in a little
bit", big rewards for that one. Mom is doing good, in fact just the
other day she sat down in front of me. She then sat some things in front
of her as she slid them to me one at a time she counted
One....Two....Three...Four... I told Her "Very Good". I have
one brother His name is Winston he is a conure and yes he likes to
scream sometimes he really starts to get on my nerves and I have to tell
him "Winston Quite, Shame on you" Mostly he's a good brother.
Iroc's personality is maybe best described as moody. Some days he's very
affectionate, and other days, he's too independent. He likes to be sung
to, he loves to have his cheek rubbed until he can't keep his eyes open
any longer. His vocabulary has gotten quite extended since we sent you
the picture, most everything he has picked up on his own. He knows when
we leave in the morning, and usually says "See ya' in a little
bit!", and then at night before bed, he says "goodnight
girls", (talking to the cats). When he sees us get a can of pop, or
hears the ice tray, he'll say "Want something to drink?" He
yells at one of the other birds, a conure, telling him "Winston,
shame on you!". And usually it's when he has actually done
something wrong! Although I say "good morning" to him every
day, he has never even attempted that. Due to my schedule, I just don't
have the time to spend teaching him like I want to, so he has not done
well with the counting, although he's still very proud of me. He
compliments himself quite often after he whistles a brief section of
"Bridge Over River Qui" saying "Very good, woo woo!"
He also helps me call one of our cats at night. If she's outside, I'll
call out and the next thing you know, Iroc is calling "Callie,
Callie, come on, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, come on." He has
listened to many phone conversations and picked up "Oh really?, Ok,
bye". He also says, "Iroc's a stinker," "You're a
brat," and "You're a bird." He has a swing hanging from
the ceiling, and he'll climb up it, hang on tight and then flap his
wings so he goes in a big circle, sometimes he says "Woo,
woo!" as he's going around. He also enjoys playing with empty paper
towel rolls. After he chews for a while, he tosses it over the edge of
the cage onto the floor, watches it hit the floor, then looks at me and
says "Oh".
