I'm
a major rabbit person. I own a total of three, after my "adoption"
of Moxie. I visit my local Humane Society and take goodies to the
rabbits there. Moxie came into the shelter with her male partner. The
Humane Society didn't know how to tell the difference between a male
and female a rabbit, and had Moxie (female) in with her male partner.
Soon after they separated the bunnies, Moxie was building a nest! The
employees told me if a rabbit has a litter in the shelter, they
usually die due to stress. I told the workers not to do
anything with her or her nest, that I would be back the next day.
First thing the next day I was there with a box to foster the
possibly pregnant rabbit. I went to get her and her nest, but
found her cage was cleaned and her nest gone! They rolled up the
"soiled" newspaper, nest and all, and disposed of it. I took Moxie
anyway because maybe she didn't have her babies yet. At home she still
acted pregnant, built another nest, but never had any babies. After a
few weeks, I didn't have the heart to take her back. She melted our
hearts and became part of the family. She does everything with us such
as watches TV, eats my homework and even goes camping with her two
senior female rabbit roommates! Visit Moxie's page
for more photos.
