This
is Polly. (I know the name isn't very original.) She is about 34
years old... I've had her for 33 of those years. She is a Double Yellow
Head Amazon Parrot. She lives with my husband and I and our two cats in
Shelbyville, Indiana. She does talk, but only when she wants to. She's
also gotten lazy over the years because she used to say much more than
she does now. Her favorite foods include corn, fried chicken and cream
cheese...but she eats everything that we eat. When I met my husband in
1984, she developed an uncanny attraction to him. So now she is
considered "his" bird. He is the only person that can open her
cage door and pet her or play with her without being bitten. Her limited
vocabulary includes "Hello" (when the phone rings) and
"Wanna cracker?" (when the pantry door is opened). I get mad
at her sometimes, but she is definitely a family member.
