This
was Buddy, he was a male Guinea Pig. Buddy was a very spoiled
little guinea pig and had the run of the apartment. He loved food and he
would make sure that you did not forget that he was around whenever you
opened the fridge. He was also very smart and will come when you call
his name. He really acted more like a dog than a guinea pig.
Very sadly Buddy passed away on 02/08/01. He was seventeen months old
and I miss him a lot. A vet gave him an antibiotic that he shouldn't
have and he stopped eating because it messed up his stomach. I took him
to another vet and we tried to get him better and I was hand feeding him
for almost a week but he lost his little fight while he was lying in bed
with me. I am so sad. He was such a little character. The only warning
that I can send to Guinea Pig owners is to double check before giving
your animal an antibiotic, even if the vet says it is okay, because
there are only three antibiotics that are safe for Guinea pigs. There is
a web site called

and they have lots of
info about medical concerns. I miss Buddy, he is very noticeably absent
from my apartment because he had such a great personality and he was so
cute.
