Knarla
Pog is a four month old African hedgehog living in Charleston,
SC. Despite the fact that she is barely more than a hoglet, she has
lots of personality and a budding career as a spokeshog for the
Carolina Hedgehog Society.
Knarla loves to explore in her large exercise ball. In fact, she is
planning on competing in the International Hedgehog Olympic
Gymboree event that will be held in Charleston this fall. As a
hedgehog athlete, Knarla will compete in five events including giant
slalom, shot put, sprint, floor exercises, and hurdles. Her natural
speed and agility make her a serious competitor!
Knarla's other passion is eating. Hedgehogs are naturally
insectivorous, and Knarla enjoys eating canned or freeze dried
crickets and mealworms in addition to the other treats she receives --
small amounts of chicken baby food, low-fat vanilla yogurt, and lean
cooked chicken or salmon. She has to make sure to have a varied and
healthy diet to keep her in good shape for playing in her ball or
running on her wheel.
Knarla even has her own web site and invites
everyone to come and learn more about African hedgehogs, and her
unusual name!
