Mandy
is a Catalina Macaw. That is a hybrid breed resulting from the
pairing of a Blue and Gold macaw and a Scarlet macaw. She is a very
vivid orange red color on her breast feathers and a turquoise blue on
her back. The undersides are a gold, and she is stunning!
She has a large vocabulary and can ask for certain foods by name. She
also tells us when she wants to "go for a walk." Although she
is large and looks intimidating, she is very friendly and lovable. She
likes to go outside with us when the weather is nice and yes, she is
very spoiled! Things are never the same, once you get a macaw,
but, they require much attention and are not for everyone.
