This
is "Prism" and I think you'll see how he got his name - even though
he was not colorful when we got him, as a youngster. Prism is a
Maoransetra Panther Chameleon from Maoranetra, Madegascar. The panther
chameleons from this region tend to be of a red variety. Prism has a lot
of red, green, and even blue flecks. Shown here, he is ten months old, he
hatched in August, 1999.
Prism has a charming personality, can catch bugs that are a foot away
from him using his retractable tongue, which is 2.5 times the length of
his body, and enjoys hanging out on our vertical blinds in our living
room. We are trying to get Prism to take a wife, but he seems to have no
interest in women. Perhaps he's a late bloomer. Prism made the front page
of our Fremont Newspaper when we had our annual reptile picnic.
