About Us
Amanda, the Pet of the Day
Name: Amanda
Age: Two years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Guinea Pig
Home: Savannah, Georgia, USA

We got Amanda when our first guinea pig, a long haired Peruvian piggy named Jeep, died. Amanda immediately fell in love with a boy piggy named Rusty, and they had four of the cutest babies. All girls, and Amanda named them after the Teletubbies. Amanda is very soft and fluffy. All white except for the black patch around her right eye, a black spot on her derriere, and a black freckle under her left eye. She has the funniest cowlick right in the middle of her back that wobbles from side to side when she runs.

She taught her daughters to squeak really loudly when anyone rustles a plastic bag, because she thinks all plastic bags have carrots or Timothy hay or some other yummy treat in them. Amanda is definitely the queen piggy, and moves any of the other pigs out of her way when she wants to get food or water, or when she just wants to sprawl out on a soft spot. She is truly a gentle, loving little animal with lots of personality. Until our own daughter came along, she and the other pigs had free access to the whole house. They still get time to do some running around, and it's so much fun to watch them run and jump and squeak.
